black t shirt for men

I bought five identical black t-shirts. It was the best decision I made all year

It sounded excessive when I did it. Five of the exact same black t-shirt, same size, same brand. Here's why it turned out to be one of the more useful decisions in my wardrobe.

The actual problem it solved

I owned a dozen different tees in slightly different shades of "black" — some greyer than others from wear, some just dyed differently to begin with. Getting dressed meant checking each one under light before deciding if it still counted as black.

What changed

Every tee in rotation is now identical. No more holding two up to a window to see which one's more faded. That single decision removed a genuinely small but real bit of friction every morning.

The wear distributes evenly

Rotating five identical tees means no single one takes the brunt of the washing. A year in, they're all still visibly the same shade of black — not one worn favourite standing out as noticeably greyer than the rest.

Would I do it again

Already have, with a second batch. It's a small, slightly odd habit that solved a problem I didn't realise was solvable until I actually tried it.
