Most sizing mistakes on a plain tee come down to checking one measurement and ignoring the rest. Here's the fuller picture.
Shoulder seam over chest width
Chest measurement gets checked most often and matters least. The shoulder seam — where it sits relative to your actual shoulder — is the detail that decides whether a tee looks fitted or borrowed.
Sleeve length, half-sleeve specifically
Half sleeves should end roughly mid-bicep. Shorter reads slightly athletic-cut; longer starts creeping toward looking like a slightly-too-big hand-me-down.
True to size across S to 2XL
- Order your usual t-shirt size for a regular fit.
- Broader chest or shoulders: size up once.
- Want it deliberately looser: also size up, not two sizes — one is enough on a regular-fit cut.
The layering test
If you plan to wear it under a shirt or hoodie regularly, true size usually works fine — 220 GSM cotton has enough structure to sit flat under another layer without adding noticeable bulk.
