Black t-shirt rankings are everywhere, and most of them judge on the same two things: fit and fabric feel on day one. That's useful, but it misses the criterion that actually determines whether a tee is still good a year later.
What most rankings get right
Fit matters, genuinely. A boxy, ill-fitting tee in great fabric still looks bad. Fabric feel on first wear matters too — nobody wants scratchy cotton against their skin.
What most rankings don't test
Almost none of them wash a tee fifty times before writing the review. A soft, well-fitting tee that greys out in a month isn't actually a good black tee — it's a good tee for exactly one month.
Where BLAKC sits on that missing criterion
220 GSM Supima cotton for the fabric feel and fit reviewers usually check, plus a colour-lock dye process tested specifically against fading, which most published rankings never account for. Both boxes, not just the one that's easy to photograph on day one.
What to actually check yourself
Before trusting any "best black t-shirt" list, ask whether they mention wash count at all. If a ranking only talks about how soft something feels out of the packet, it's telling you about day one, not year one.
