Six months ago I put on a pair of BLAKC black jeans and decided to actually track what happened to them instead of just assuming they'd fade like every other black pair I'd owned. Here's the honest rundown.
Month one: no different from day one
Nothing to report, which was the point. Washed cold, inside out, four or five times in that first month. Still the same deep black as the day I unboxed them.
Month three: the usual suspects held up too
Thighs and back pockets are where every pair of black jeans I've owned before started greying first, from friction against pockets and phone cases. Checked closely under direct light. Nothing.
Month six: roughly 25 washes in
At this point I've genuinely stopped checking, which is a strange thing to say about jeans that used to make me anxious every laundry day. Colour is still even and still black. The stretch in the fabric hasn't loosened out either — they still sit the same at the waist as month one.
What I'd tell someone buying their first pair
Wash cold, inside out, skip the dryer. Do that and the 50-wash claim isn't marketing — it tracks with what I've actually seen at the halfway point. I'll update this if anything changes by month twelve, but so far there's nothing to update.
