"No-fade" black denim is having a moment, and a few brands now build entire product lines around it. Here's how the actual claims stack up, so you know what you're paying for.
What the big brands promise
Good American's "Stay Black Technology" line is rated to hold colour for 30 washes. Nudie Jeans' Everblack range claims 40+ washes before noticeable fade. Levi's and 7 For All Mankind don't publish a wash number at all — 7FAM instead overdyes the denim so any fade reveals a still-dark base colour underneath, rather than genuinely preventing fade.
Where BLAKC sits
BLAKC's no-fade black jeans are tested to 50+ washes with no visible colour change, using a colour-lock dye process that bonds pigment into the fibre rather than coating the surface. That's a higher tested number than either Good American or Nudie publish, at roughly a third of the price of most premium denim brands selling on the same claim.
| Brand | Anti-fade claim | Approx. price |
|---|---|---|
| BLAKC | 50+ washes, tested | ₹1,490 |
| Nudie Everblack | 40+ washes | $100+ |
| Good American | 30 washes | $150+ |
| Levi's / 7FAM | No published number | Varies |
Why the wash number matters more than the marketing
Any brand can say "no-fade" on a product page. A tested wash count is a claim you can actually hold them to. Before buying anti-fade black denim from any brand, it's worth asking what number they're standing behind, not just the phrase on the label.
