A bulging back-pocket bifold is common enough that most men don't question it. It's worth questioning.
It stretches your jeans out of shape
Sitting on a thick wallet all day pushes the back pocket seam outward, permanently distorting the shape of jeans that otherwise fit well. It's one of the more common, least talked-about reasons jeans wear unevenly.
It's genuinely bad for your back
Sitting on an uneven surface for hours, which is what a thick wallet in one back pocket creates, tilts the pelvis slightly and has a real, documented association with lower back discomfort over time.
It rarely needs to be that thick
Most people carry far fewer cards regularly than a bifold is built to hold. A slim design that fits 5–7 cards and a handful of notes covers what actually gets used day to day, without the extra leather and card slots most of a bifold's bulk comes from.
The front-pocket case
Slim enough to sit flat in a front pocket, a wallet is also harder to pickpocket than one riding in a back pocket. That's a security upgrade that has nothing to do with RFID.
